How to play in three moves

1. Write your answer. Open the UNSAY board, read the prompt and choose a display name. Write an answer in up to 160 characters, avoiding any currently banned words. Your answer appears alongside everyone else’s.
2. Ban one word. Choose “Ban a word” and use a free demo credit. A temporary ban lasts 10 minutes and hides that exact word in answers across the board. Each new player starts with 5 free demo credits.
3. Find another way. If your answer loses a word, rewrite it for free. Read other answers, vote for ones you like, and use the replay to see what a ban changed.

No account or download is required. You need a modern browser, JavaScript and an internet connection.

One ban, one very different excuse

Suppose the prompt asks why you are late for work. Here is an example answer:

BEFORE THE BAN“I was stuck in traffic behind a very philosophical pigeon.”

Someone bans traffic. That word is hidden in every current answer containing it. You can keep the idea and change the wording:

A POSSIBLE REWRITE“A pigeon was holding a seminar in the middle of the road.”

There is no single correct rewrite. A synonym can work, but a different sentence often gives you a better joke. These examples illustrate the rules; they are not live player activity.

What counts as a banned word?

Bans match exact words and ignore capitalization. A ban on cat also affects Cat, but leaves catch alone. Choose a word using 2–24 English letters. New answers and rewrites cannot contain an active banned word.

There are 5 temporary ban slots across the whole board. When they are full, wait for a word to return. A ban hides text on the board; it does not erase the original from replay or rewrite history.

Play with friends or join on your own

Send friends the link to unsay.lol and open it in separate browsers. You will join the same public board, alongside any other visitors. There are no private rooms or team lobbies in the current version.

You can also arrive alone, read the clearly labelled demo answers, and add your own. Voting is free. There is no cash prize or single winning solution; the fun comes from what everyone writes around the restrictions.

Free play and optional paid bans

Reading, posting, rewriting and voting are free. Paid bans are optional:

Only company or product names require an existing mention in a real visitor’s current answer. Popular words come from the published baseline list or appear in at least three current visitor answers. Checkout shows eligibility, price and availability.

Keep the joke on the words

Answers and display names are public. Keep private information off the board, avoid impersonation, and do not post threats, hateful abuse or harassment. Aim your sabotage at the sentence.
